EV Charging & Infrastructure Pinned Discussion Verified Solved 22 Sep 2026

What is the actual payback period for a 60kW Dual Gun DC Fast Charger on Highway Corridors?

I am planning to install a 60kW CCS2 Dual Gun DC fast charger at my highway restaurant property on NH-48 (Jaipur-Delhi stretch).

Expected initial traffic is around 8 to 12 EVs per day charging for 30-40 minutes each. Could experienced station owners share realistic OPEX breakdown (DISCOM demand charges, CMS cloud software fee, maintenance AMC) and what net monthly cash flow to expect in Year 1 vs Year 2?

Based on our live client installations on NH-48:
1. **Hardware & Substation Cost**: ₹14-16 Lakhs for 60kW DC charger + 100kVA transformer.
2. **Daily Billing**: At 10 sessions/day @ 25kWh average = 250 units billed daily. At ₹21/unit customer price with ₹8/unit DISCOM input cost = ₹13/unit gross margin (~₹97,500/month).
3. **OPEX**: Fixed demand charges + CMS gateway (~₹20,000/month).
4. **Net Payback**: 18 to 24 months if daily utilization stays above 20%. Ensure tie-up with EV fleet operators to guarantee minimum baseline consumption.

Strongly recommend keeping a 22kW Type-2 AC charger alongside as backup for plug-in hybrids and two-wheelers. Also make sure the dedicated EV tariff meter application is filed early with the DISCOM as power sanction can take 30-45 days.
